535 pages (pages [390] - [457] or sections *1 - *5 are additional to the pagination making a total of 603 pages - all copies were issued thus, 3 colour folding maps, chromolithographic frontispiece 'Regiment of Flamingoes - Swakop River,' 7 engraved plates, 27 wood-engraved illustrations in the text, errata leaf, original blind stamped maroon cloth titled gilt on the spine, original brown endpapers with the binder’s ticket of Wesleys & Co. London on the rear paste-down endpaper, inscription of a previous owner on the free endpaper, edges uncut, one section o2 (pages 217 – 234) working loose, corners bumped and the cloth is lightly insect scarred, contents crisp, a very good copy.
