SOLD UNFRAMED.
New York School of Fine and Applied Arts [now PARSONS School of Design]. - Julia ANDERSON (artist).
Original artwork for a display “Fall Fashions for Women & Misses” [New York: undated but circa 1920?]. watercolor and bodycolor on artist’s board (23 x 19in; 584 x 483mm), pencil inscription to verso [see images]. (Some smudging and light soiling).
Exceptional aesthetics on liberal display and very much of its time – then as now the N.Y. School of Fine & Applied Arts could choose its students from a pool of the most talented young artists and designers in the whole of the U.S. I have not been able to find any other examples of Julia Anderson’s work – a clue maybe that this charming example was sourced in Maine?
