[iv] + [288] pp of illustrations and captions - all on gloss-art paper.
A curiosity of the binding is that the indexed page numbers (folios) are either not shown or have been trimmed away - which would seem to have been impossible as the page-edge gilding remains.
The book is so old that only cricket afficionados are likely to recognise names other than W G Grace (Gloucestershire) (who rated two portraits), even though there was a W G Grace Junior (of Cambridge) and an E M Grace (also Gloucestershire).
CONDITION. The upper board is heavily rubbed, with corners bumped, but without detracting from the design and lettering. The spine and lower board are new vynide. The verso of the front free endpaper is heavily stained. The title page is a facsimile of the front cover. Leaf 3 is loose, the lower quarter of Leaf 7 is missing and there is a tear across a quarter of Leaf 17. The gilding remains bright.
