Original dark red pebble grain cloth boards with gilt titling on the spine and a decorative coat of arms device on the upper board. Black end papers. xiii prelims, 552 pages, xvi advertisements, 81 full page plates, some with more than one illustration, mostly black and white photographic images, 92 in text illustrations, 14 folded coloured maps and 6 plans.

CONDITION DETAILS: An acceptable copy with several faults, but reasonable overall. The binding has wear, especially at the head and tail of the spine. There is a purple name and the date, 2001,in pen on the free front end paper. An image is provided of the top corner of the obverse side of the frontis which has the name Jennings and the date 10th June 02 written in pen. The front end papers are split along the hinge. A close up is provided of the tear and damage to one of the maps. The other maps also have marks, etc., but not as severe. A little foxing on several pages.
