This lot comprises the following five items:

1. Rapport Van Het Comite Van De Harrismithsche Kamer Van Koophandel Over Het Maken Van Spoorwegen Van De Berg Naar Harrismith. P.Davis en Zonen. Pietermaritzburg, 1888. 12pp. pamphlet in original printed wraps. About very good. Not in SABIB and presumably very scarce.

2. Railway Post Cart and Steamer's Route MAP. John G. Bain. Cape Town. nd. Circa 1895. Large canvas backed paper folding map of South Africa in eight compartments measuring 510 x 380mm. Bound into red cloth covered thin boards with black lettering on front cover. The covers are somewhat worn with a signature on the front cover and cracked hinge. There is a Thomas Cook sticker on the front pastedown. The map itself is attractive and in very good condition.

3. Cape Government Railways Time Tables, Fares and Rates. August, September 1898. Townshend, Taylor and Snashall. Cape Town. 4to. 148 pages including 29 pages of advertisements at the rear in the original pictorial wraps.  Large 8 panel folding map of South Africa at the rear, seven panels now detached from the first (bound in) panel. In used condition and some fraying but pretty good considering age and ephemeral nature of this publication.

4. Williams, Robert. The Cape Town to Cairo Railway. From the Point of View of African Development. nd. 1922. Billing & Sons. Guildford. for the Central Asian Society. 20pp. pamphlet in the original printed wraps. A paper read before the Central Asian Society , 5th. April, 1922. Lord Carnock in the Chair. NOT in SABIB. However there is a pamphlet on the same topic, also by Sir Robert Williams, published in 1921. in SABIB Vol. 4, Page 789, with only 4 copies identified. My guess is that the current pamphlet must be exceedingly rare.

5. Standard Railway Map of South Africa. Route (shown by red arrows). Special Train, Imperial Press Conference, February - March 1935. Rare. One of about 130 copies specially bound in gilt lettered leather for delegates of the Conference. Large (1000 x 650mm.) coloured folding map on line backed paper. A fine copy.
