"Farming life" would be a more accurate than than "Agriculture" because Joan Southey's book tells the stories of a score of farms and farmers in the Little Karoo, from Colesberg in the north to Cookhouse in the south, and from Graaff-Reinet in the west to Steynsburg in the east.

The evocative name Daggaboer is just one of the twenty. Obviously a dagga (hemp) farmer? Not so obviously. The author has three other suggestions. [Daggaboer is now an award-winning farmstall on the national road north of Cookhouse.]

Colour-photographic dustjacket, blue simulated-cloth paper-boards, plain endpapers, 286 pp of b/w-illustrated text and references + map + 24 pp of inserted colour photographs on gloss art paper.

CONDITION. Apart from the faintest rubbing of the bottom cover corners and the foot of the spine, this copy is fine throughout - complete and unmarked - and although 28 years old would easily pass as as-new.
