Complete 2 volume set. Copy number 920 of an edition limited to a total print run of 2,500 copies in English. (There was also an Afrikaans edition) Original blue cloth/buckram boards with gilt titling on the spines and the upper boards. Volume one has xx prelims, 172 text pages followed by the plate section. Volume two has xiv prelims, 181 text pages, followed by the plate section. This set contains 165 full page colour plates of Le Vaillant's water colours, plus colour reproductions of 11 coloured engravings, portraits, general illustrations, 2 folding maps. CONDITION DETAILS: The bindings have a few signs of use/wear and the end papers have tape residue marks caused by sticky tape that was used to attach plastic covers which have now been removed.
