Publisher's red cloth binding with pictorial front panel and spine.

xv + 248pp + 8pp (catalogue). Portraits in text of the author (as frontispiece), Cecil Rhodes, Jameson, President Kruger, and a map of Transvaal (page 173), and a diagram of the Rand Gold Output on page 248.

Binding square and contents generally clean with occasional marking on the prelims. Front hinge cracked. Former owner's bookplate on front pastedown.

'The author was stated to have been a large landowner in the Transvaal at this period, "well informed on all questions connected with the Transvaal Republic." Generally speaking, Mr. Regan writes from the pro-Boer point of view, and referring to the Jameson Raid he asserts that "in his opinion it had given the Boer government a new lease of life for at least ten years, or in any case during Kruger's lifetime.' - Mendelssohn vol.II, page 205.
