4to; pictorial green cloth, with gilt lettering to backstrip and upper cover; re-cased, retaining the original backstrip and cloth sides, but with cloth repairs to the fore-edges; new pastedowns, and cloth tape reinforcing to hinges; pp. x + 576; photographs and monochrome artwork in text; folding map missing. Cover worn and rubbed; some creasing and fingering; archival tape repairs to some page edges; occasional pencilled annotation. Dutch text. (Mendelssohn II, p. 370) \'An interesting synopsis of the Anglo-Boer Dispute and the subsequent South African War. The four preliminary chapters deal with \"what preceded the Ultimatum,\" and the history of the political and military conflict is brought down to the signing of the Peace at Vereeniging. The volume is well printed and illustrated, and there is a Preface from the pen of W. F. Andriessen.\' - Mendelssohn.
