Original brown/red leather binding by Nordiska Bokhandelns Bokbinderi of Stockholm, covers ruled in gilt, facsimile of Zorn’s signature blocked in gilt on the upper cover, spine tooled and lettered in gilt, gilt ruled turn-ins, top edge gilt (light soiling and fading to spine).
Limited 2000 copies, this copy numbered ‘1803’ – an excellent example. “Anders Leonard Zorn … was a Swedish painter. He attained international success as a painter, sculptor, and etcher. Among Zorn's portrait subjects were King Oscar II of Sweden, and three American Presidents, Grover Cleveland, William H. Taft, and Theodore Roosevelt. At the end of his life, he established the Swedish literary Bellman Prize in 1920.” (wikipedia).
Swedish art historian Gerda Boëthius “became an amanuens at Uppsala University [in 1918], and from 1921 was employed at the Zorn collections in Mora. In 1927, she became a docent at Stockholm University and received the title of professor in 1938. In 1933, she was elected as a corresponding member of the Vitterhetsakademien and in 1939 as a member of Kungliga Gustav Adolfs Akademien för svensk folkkultur.” (wikipedia).
