Cream card endpapers with a photograph and lettering in black on the front cover, green cloth-boards with publisher's logo and lettering in in black on the upper board, plain endpapers, portrait photograph on art-paper as frontispiece, xiii pp of prelims, including Smuts's prefatory note and the author's introduction, + 99 pp of text and appendix printed on laid paper and listing fossil animals discovered by Alfred Brown, many of them named for the celebrated archaeologist Dr Robert Broom to give them more authenticity than Brown + 6 additional inserted plates on art-paper, including one of Alfred Brown's 15 volumes of folio journals.

CONDITION. A very good copy overall, with the only shortcomings some early and late foxing and an ownership signature on the front free endpaper.
