First published in 1967 and set in the time of the break-up of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland, this was the first book of Rhodesian author John Gordon Davis (who died in 2014). In this first impression of Davis's book there was the infamous literal "he [the main character] killed kaffirs" instead of "he liked kaffirs" - for which no errata slip is an adequate compensation. (Less seriously, the main character's name is both "Maloney" and "Mahoney" on the front flap.)

Laminated pictorial dustjacket, grey-blue cloth or paper boards boards, gilt to spine, plain endpapers, 637 pp of prelims and text, and the pasted-down errata slip on p [8].

CONDITION. The dustjacket is lightly chipped at the top of the spine and the front upper fold. The boards, binding and contents are fine - complete, undiscoloured and unmarked except for an ownership name and address on the front free endpaper.
