The first edition of Mandela's famous Rivonia Trial speech published as a 23pp. Christian Action pamphlet in about 1963/1964. There were several later editions of this pamphlet, the second editon in 1965 and the third edition in 1970 were in almost identical format but the later editions were stated on the front wrapper. Subsequent editions were in a different format. An identical copy of this first edition in my own collection has a signature dated Jan '65 on the front wrapper, so one assumes publication before this.
In the original wraps with a photo of Mandela on the front wrapper. A compliment slip from Christian Action is stapled to the top of the front wrapper. This first printing is uncommon and a scarce early Mandela A item. A copy of the third edition sold on Antiquarian Auction 58 for $168.
