M5974 NThis is a genuine leaf from a Gradual, a liturgical book of texts and music of chants sung by the choir in response to the celebrant of the Mass.  It was written by hand in the 15th c.   Beautiful initial “T” in several brilliant colors of tempera bordered in gold leaf.  This initial opens the chant for All Saints Day, “Te gloriosus apostolorum....”  On verso is a beautiful initial “M”opens the last verse of Psalm 73.  Size: 22 1/4 x 16 inches.  One acid damage hole on top musical staff.  Suitable for framing.
