Published by Macmillan and Co., Limited, 1909. Gilt-decorated Blue Cloth. Condition: Very Good +. First Edition. xiv, 389pp, 1 black & white map, 2pp publisher adverts, illustrated with black & white photos in text, inner front endpapers tanned, blue cloth with gilt spine lettering and round gilt illustration to upper board, boards rubbed, corners and spine edges bumped. Internally fine with numerous black and white ills.

The author of the Man Eaters of Tsavo. Patterson was an Irish soldier, author, hunter and eventual game warden in East Africa. He was portrayed by Val Kilmer in the Academy Award winning film, the Ghost in the Darkness, a tale of man eating lions in Kenya. The book offered here gives accounts of Patterson's time in Africa, including a return to Tsavo, hunting for a variety of African Big Game, and interactions with the local Masai.
