A true lady adventurer, Dixie traveled to South Africa to report on British troubles with the Boers and Zulus. A veteran hunter, she enjoyed sport after hartebeest, blesbok, and springbok with her Winchester lever-action rifle. Original pictorial olive-green cloth, beveled edge. Gilt titles and vignette on spine a little dulled but still quite legible. Edges rubbed, spine tail a little frayed. All page edges gilt. Original yellow endpapers, inner hinges just starting, while the book block remains tight and square. Illustrated with full page plates.
