This copy has been very carefully preserved and, without the author's inscription ("Irene Below, Cape Town, 5/12/200") and translator's dedication ("For Joanna [Marx], Christmas 2000, Walter" on the title page, it would be rated mint in all respects.
Irene Below, who first saw some of this artist's work in 1987, jointly organised with Liz Crossley, a Berlin-based South African artist, an Irma Stern exhibition in Bielefeld, Germany, in 1996/1997, and was co-author of the 1996 catalogue.
