Very slight rubbing near the top of the spine of the two-colour printed and varnished dustjacket, which is unclipped (12.50 pounds). Grey cloth board covers, silver to spine, clean and unbumped. Plain endpapers with bookseller sticker on front paste-down, with the front free endpaper (only) slightly browned towards the edges. xvi + 495 pp of complete and unmarked text, including citations, bibliography and index; 16 pages of monochrome illustrations, grouped at the start of each of the volume's four books.

One small observation is on the context given to the writing of "Babette's Feast" (which became a famous movie). Originally written in response to a wager accepted by the famous Danish author that she could not write a piece acceptable to the "Saturday Evening Post", Babette was rejected first by the "Post" and then by "Good Housekeeping" before being published by "The Ladies" Home Journal".

This is a near-pristine copy of the most noteworthy biography of Blixen to have been published in English.
