Second impression of this iconic evergreen work for young and old alike. 475 pp with coloured frontis and 21 bw plates all present; numerous vignettes in text. The covers of the book are still bright with their gilt decorations, a little dulled on spine; there is a long crack at the spine on the rear hinge. Bookplate and unrelated contemporary presentation inscr on front eps. There is sporadic foxing, nowhere very heavy, throughout the book, and two pages have expertly mended tears in lower margins, not affecting text; foxing on edge of textblock.
