Inscribed and signed on front paste down endpaper by Percy Fitzpatrick, dated 1928 and on the title page. 475p. Illustrated. The book itself has some foxing. Enclosed are four letters in three original envelopes. The first is a letter dated 1913 using House of Assembly letterhead from Percy Fitzpatrick to Mrs Henderson, handwritten and signed by Fitzpatrick. The second envelope contains two letters, one dated 26 April 1928 is to Mrs Henderson of Natal and makes reference to his children who passed away \"all three boys are gone\". This letter is typed with his signature at the bottom from Uitenhage. The second letter in this envelope is dated 8 April 1928, is handwritten and refers to Fitzpatrick signing a copy of Jock for Mrs Henderson. The fourth letter is handwritten and dated 1964 from the daughter (Cecily) responding to questions about the illustrator, Caldwell.
