No expense was spared in the production of this very unusual large-format art-book. The type appears to have been set in Germany, the reproduction elsewhere and the printing and binding in Hong Kong using a range of five Chinese papers, from 40 gm2 Bible paper to 200 gm2 woodfree.

The images were shown at a Cape Town exhibition in 2012, during which Roelof Petrus van Wyk, the photographer, was the subject of interviews in Marie-Claire and the Mail and Guardian [Google references].

French-fold dustjacket with colour image out of black on the upper face and white out of black lettering and logo on the spine. Full-bound in fine apricot linen with embossed black lettering to the upper face and embossed black lettering and logo to the spine. Scarlet ribbon marker. Royal blue head and tail bands. Plain endpapers. Unpaginated Afrikaans "pantomime" text section on lightweight paper bound at the front and trimmed 120 mm short of the main page width. Title-page followed by some 100 pp of double-page colour photographic spreads out of black and printed on one side only. And at the back an unpaginated full-width text section with an English translation of the earlier Afrikaans "pantomime" text.

CONDITION. The dustjacket is lightly creased in places with 2 very small edge-bumps. A 3 cm depressed diagonal crease at the inside top of the lower board has not damaged the binding. The endpapers and contents are all fine - complete, unmarked and bright, making this a near-perfect copy.
