The author was of the Moravian Church, and also an accomplished, musician and composer, enjoying a friendship with the composer ,Haydn. In 1815 Latrobe arrived at the Cape of Good Hope and visited the Moravian Missions at Genadendal (near Greyton), George, Uitenhage and the Great Fish River. The narrative of his visit is the subject of this book.
