IN AFRIKAANS VERTAAL DEUR UYS KRIGE.

Roneoed script apparently used for the production of the play at the Artscape (previously the Nico Malan) Theatre in Cape Town. It was the first production in the new building in 1971. 'The production took some four hours, and ended with a plethora of (white) bodies lying round a huge African anthill. This was not the uplifting Koning Lear its sponsors had commissioned, and disgruntlement rumbled on in the press for months afterwards.' (Quince 38-39; Kannemeyer, 585)

A letter from Amanda Botha, tipped-in inside the front wrapper, explains that the script is unedited and that there a mistakes which yet need to be corrected and requests that it not be circulated.

125 pages, printed on one side of the page only, wiro bound, plain card covers worn and soiled.
