First edition limited to 1000 unnumbered and unsigned copies.

For two hundred years few people outside Lady Anne Barnard's family (of whom the author of the foreword is one) realised that she was a fine artist as well as the famous writer of letters from the Cape, to Lord Macartney and others.

Nicolas Barker's magnificently illustrated and produced recent book, prepared with the cooperation of Lady Anne's family, sets the record straight.

Dustjacket with colour paintings front and back. Royal blue cloth-boards with gilt design to the upper board and gilt lettering to the spine. Plain blue endpapers. 116 pp of text in two colours with full-colour illustrations throughout - all on matt art paper - including a double gatefold reduced reproduction of Panorama of Cape Town", the original of which is 500 cm wide.
