54 pages, original mauve cloth with gilt titling on the upper cover, spine chipped at the top and bottom, book plate on the front paste-down endpaper, contents bright, a good copy.
Inscribed, ‘Miss Cox from the author’ at the top of the title page.
Not in the printed edition of Mendelssohn (Sydney) South African Bibliography. A South African Bibliography, volume 2, page 148, notes, ‘Mendelssohn , in his typescript “Additions” suggests this might have been written by Mrs. M.E. Barber. This, however, seems unlikely as she accompanied her husband and family to the diamond fields from the Eastern Province (cf. Mitford-Barberton (I.) The Barbers of the Peak, p.77) whereas the writer of this work travelled from the Cape.’
