Macmillan South Africa, 1979, inscription by previous owner on inside page, forward by Spike Milligan, lavishly illustrated with architectural detailing and period photographs, 102 pages, dust jacket has slight tears, book in very good condition (excluding inscription).
Benjamin's book is of a vanished city, theaters, hotels, mansions, offices and spaces all gone. With a certain nostalgia for a bygone era, the author evokes another space, a lost Johannesburg. Benjamin is co-author (with Clive Chipkin) of a standard work on Johannesburg heritage, Park Town 1892-1972.
