Lawrence ("Laurie") Green was a South African journalist and author. He wrote for the layman and although his work is well grounded in history and fact he viewed reading (his books) as entertainment. Like many non-fiction popular authors he had a large general readership and his role as recorder of little remembered facts of cultural or historic significance ,in the southern African context, gives his work a timeless quality.
