1. Islands in a Forgotten Sea, 1958, Howard Timmins, printed in the Netherlands, illustrated by A.A.Telford, 435 pages, condition of dustjacket:fair, condition of book: very good.
The book is a romantic history of the Indian Ocean in the environs of Southern Africa. From the Seychelles, to coral atolls, to the corsairs of Mauritius, to the lost monarchy of Madagascar, and of course the pirates, the area known as the 'Sea of the Blacks' (Bahr-el-Zanj) becomes a tale of adventures and discoveries.
2. To the Banks of the Zambezi, Nelson, 1965, illustrator is also Telford, 441 pages, condition:very good.
A book on the wilderness of Rhodesia and the history of the pioneers and development of the country.
3.Natal and the Zulu Country, Books of Africa, 1966, illustrated by Penny Miller, 456 pages, name-tape to endpaper, otherwise :very good.
4.Lost Trails of the Transvaal, 1965, Nelson , illustrations by A.A.Telford and C.T.A.Maberly, slight wear to portion of endpaper, 474 pages, otherwise:very good.
This book concerns a time when the old Transvaal was bordered by Swaziland, Mocambique, Natal, Bechuanaland and Rhodesia, an inland kingdom indeed!
5. Discovering Southern Africa, 1980, T.V.Bulpin publications, second edition, enlarged and revised, 899 pages, condition:very good.
This is Bulpin's classic work and that for which he is remembered. For many years it was the standard work for travelers.
