245pp. Laminated pictorial card wraps.
A very good copy of the controversial book by Nelson Mandela's doctor and MK veteran, Vejay Ramlakan, about the final years of Mandela's life. The book was famously withdrawn by the publishers, days after its initial release in July 2017.
A senior executive at Penguin Random House confirmed that approximately 4000 copies of the book were printed and released to coincide with Mandela Day (17 July 2017).
Of these, about 500 were sold, before being withdrawn from circulation, after complaints from the family about some of the contents reached the publishers.
According to the same source, the remaining 3500 unsold copies were destroyed.
This copy with bookseller's sticker to the bottom wrap, indicating the date (07/17) and bookstore (EB (Exclusive Books) Cape Domestic (Airport)) where the book was taken into circulation, conforming with the above dates and indicating that this is one of those sold prior to being withdrawn.
Creasing to the corner of pp 19/20, some lifting of the laminate at the edges of both top and bottom wraps. Light soiling to the title page. An attractive, trade paperback copy.
