The author of SAVAGE SUDAN and ON SAFARI, Abel Chapman was not only a renowned big game hunter and sportsman, he was also a distinguished in the fields of natural history, zoology, and ornithology. This title was published posthumously and recounts in Chapman's own words his trips to the Sahara, the Nubian Desert, the Nile and later into the Sudan. Among his chapters are sections on lion, antelopes, buffalo, and numerous species of bird life not only in Africa, but also in Wild Spain, and the British Isles. Highlighting the text are 25 colored plates painted by W. H. Riddell, a photogravure of Chapman as a frontispiece, and numerous text drawings. The original green cloth is firm, bright and square. The contents are clean and crisp.
