Baden-Powell entered the army after being rejected by Oxford for a deficiency in mathematics. As a young subaltern stationed in India and Afghanistan, he relished pig sticking, accidentally shot himself on the Afghan frontier, and hunted tigers, bear and panthers in Nepal. The full-page color plates from the author's watercolors and numerous text sketches nicely complement his text. Original pictorial gray cloth lightly rubbed, a couple of light splotches to back cover. Original endpapers, inner hinges starting but book remains tight.
