The author divides his attention in this book between his sporting adventures in India and stag hunting in Scotland. Of Indian interest are his hunts for black buck, nilgai, chital and sambur near the Ganges River and Delhi. In addition, he hunted crocodile on the Ganges and Jumna Rivers, rogue elephant in the hill country of Naini Tal, and bear in Kashmir. Original dark blue cloth with gilt elephant head and titles on top cover, gilt titles on spine, spine lightly sunned. Illustrated with full page plates and text drawings. Original endpaper firm and tight, with 2 tiny, tiny wormholes in lower corner. Famous outdoors/hunting author John Batten's copy with his signature in ink and dated 1980 on the front free end paper.
