In Afrikaans. Although published less than 75 years ago, copies of the title are rarely seen.

Pieter Joubert (not to be confused with General Piet Joubert) fought in both Anglo-Boer wars, during the second of which he was both an acting general and an acting president. Before the war of 1899-1902 he was a member of the Volksraad in the old Transvaal Republic, and after war he led a trek to East Africa, where he stayed for much of the rest of his life.

Green cloth boards with black lettering to the upper panel and spine, plain endpapers, frontispiece portrait of Pieter Joubert at the age of 84, xi + 208 pp of text with 8 further b/w portraits of generals and other illustrations paginated with the text.

CONDITION. The boards are lightly rubbed. There is an unusual Oudtshoorn "Jeweller and Bookseller" sticker on the front free endpaper. The copy is complete and unfoxed.
