An attractively bound book, elaborate gilt stamping to front cover (and Zulu warrior on rear), pale yellow end-papers in good condition (front inner hinge cracked), multiple portrait frontispiece, and containing many early photographs of various scenes in Natal, such as waterfalls, beach and forest scenes, train lines, battlefields, buildings, portraits, river scenes, natives, etc...197pp. all edges gilt, binding shaken with first gathering loose, generally good condition throughout with the occasional finger-smudge or light fox-marks. A very interesting pictorial glimpse of Natal at the turn of the century.
