"Because of her training as a teacher, Louisa Bolus did everything in her power to inculcate a knowledge and love of the indigenous flora and of nature study among children and laymen by publishing, inter alia, popular articles in Nature Notes and the Journal of the Botanical Society of South Africa." - DSAB V, p. 61. Sidney Harold Skaife (1889-1976) was a renowned entomologist and author, who did much to popularise wildlife study in South Africa through his writings, also helping to establish national parks and nature reserves. This is a remarkable collection of beautifully-illustrated natural history journals, covering the immense variety of South African vegetation and wildlife.
