Collection of 14 books by and about this South African and world icon, some of which are scarce. It is unusual to find such a large group of Mandela books offered together:
1. No Easy Walk to Freedom. Heinemann. 1965. The very scarce 1st. edition of Mandela's first book published while he was imprisoned and banned in S.Africa. The uncommon hardcover edition in dw. There is some minor evidence of damp staining of the front board and the ffep. and the rear of the dw. but hardly visible on the exterior of the dw. Overall still an about very good and quite attractive copy without inner markings or inscriptions.(See images).
2. Nelson Mandela Speaks. Scarce 128pp. soft cover book published by the ANC. Undated but almost certainly 60's. About very good with some wear and paper loss of about 1cm. at the base of the spine.
3. Mandela. The Struggle is My Life. International Defence and Aid Fund for Southern Africa. 1978. 1st.edn. Very good in original glossy pictorial wraps.
4. Fatima Meer. Higher Than Hope. Mandela's biography on his 70th. birthday. Skotaville. 1988. 1st.edn.A crease to front wrapper and name and date on ffep. ow. a very good copy in original wraps.
5. In the Prison of His Days. Lilliput Press. Ireland. 1988. A miscellany for Mandela on his 70th. birthday with poetry and prose contributions by well known literary personalities. Fine in original wraps.
6. Schadeberg, Jurgen (ed.) Nelson Mandela and the Rise of the ANC. Jonathan Ball, 1990. 4to. 192pp. Glossy pictorial wraps which have a crease on both front and rear panels, but otherwise a clean copy.
