316 pages: illustrations, portraits. Paper covered boards, dustwrapper.

Scarce in hardcover. The United Nations had brokered a peaceful settlement for Namibia and 1 April 1989 was meant to be the first day of peace after 23 years of conflict. However, on the night of 31 March, 1600 SWAPO fighters crossed the borderline. The South African troops had withdrawn to their camps as part of the peace agreement and for nine days 1200 members of Koevoet, the South West African territory police (minus their heavier weapons which had been handed in as part of the agreement), fought the SWAPO members who had crossed the border.
