Mendelssohn (Sidney) South African Bibliography vol. 2 page 149: A narrative of a trip to the seaports of South, South-East, and East Africa in 1878. Mrs. Pender accompanied her husband, who visited Africa to arrange for the laying " of a submarine telegraph cable from Aden to Natal along the East Coast of Africa." The writer does not appear to have been charmed with the country, although a great deal of hospitality seems to have been extended to her.
