First Edition: 272 pages, woodcut printer's device on the title page, original black cloth titled gilt along the spine, light staining on the endpapers from moisture in the boards at the time of printing, a very good copy in the dust jacket - the jacket is printed on stock paper and spirit varnished, designed Ronald Clyne, price clipped at the top of the front flap.

The colophon on the final unnumbered page reads, 'Three thousand copies of this book have been printed from Intertype Garamond on White Winnebago Eggshell. The binding cloth is Holliston Black Novelex.'

The bibliography records 3082 copies as the total edition the extra copies being explained as printer's overruns.

Editor's note on the dust jacket, 'For a decade and a half Carl Jacobi has been steadily and unobtrusively writing tales of fantasy, the weird, and science-fiction. They have appeared in print in a variety of magazines, beginning with Weird Tales, and many readers of those magazines remember such startling stories as Revelations in Black — perhaps the most memorable vampire tale ever published in the early years of that magazine, Phantom Brass, The Cane, Carnaby’s Fish, Mive, The Face in the Wind, The Tomb from Beyond, and others; these and more than a dozen other tales are collected here in Mr. Jacobi’s first book.'
