Andersson was a Swede. He wrote about the areas he travelled through and included interesting natural history observations and details of the indigenous peoples with whom he came in contact. He spent time with Thomas Baines working on a book of natural history. In Ovamboland he became involved with a battle between the Hereros and the Damaras, sustaining serious bullet wounds, but still continued his journey. This book includes and account of Andersson\'s last days by Axel Ericson.
