This is a near-very-good copy of the first (1957) edition of what may have been the most influential and memorable of Australian writer Nevil Shute's score of novels.
Wrap-around colour-painted matt dustjacket with type on both flaps (unclipped: 15 shillings), red cloth-boards gilt to the spine, plain endpapers, [vi] + 312 pp on good wove paper.
CONDITION. The dustjacket has been extensively but effectively repaired (see images). The binding remains tight. The boards are lightly rubbed at the extremities. The endpapers are unmarked and undiscoloured, as are the contents, with the type bright on white paper.
