Original engraved wood printing-block featuring a father, seated beside a bee skep, explaining to his son about bees. The son has a book in his hands. [London?: circa 1815]. Original block (1 7/8 x 2 ¾ x 3 1/8 x 7/8in; 47 x 70 x 23mm), signed in the block ‘Lee’ (in reverse).
Condition: use has produced a fine dark patina to the upper surface. [see images].
Probably for use in a Chapbook or larger Children's book. ‘J. Lee’ worked for Marshall and did sign his work ‘Lee’.
N.b. the images include a digitally reversed image - this is a computer-generated positive image included to show what a print taken from the block might look like.
