How it works

Register

Published (in Nederlands) after the Jameson Raid, this remains the most comprehensive single-volume history of the South African (Transvaal) Republic and its four-times president, Paul Kruger, published before the outbreak of the Anglo-Boer War in 1899.

The ivory cloth-boards, with colour design and lettering to the upper panel and lettering to the spine, are rubbed and frayed, with tears at the ends of the sunned spine. The binding has loosened and gauze is showing after the (printed) front endpaper, but the hinges are undamaged. The last contents page is detached but present. The front endpaper verso is foxed but there is no other foxing. The contents - frontispiece, viii + 904 pp of text and 5 appendixes (including the Sand River and London conventions) + errata sheet pasted in at the back - are unmarked and undiscoloured, making this a better than good copy after the binding has been repaired.
