Pierneef was formally commissioned to paint The Johannesburg Station Panels in July 1929. The end product comprised 32 panels which were to be displayed in the concourse of the then new Park Station in Johannesburg.
The panels were unveiled on the 26th November 1932.
The panels are now on view at the Rupert Museum in Stellenbosch.
