The decorated gilt + three-colour covers are rubbed and edge-worn. The binding is loose at the front and the lower hinge is broken. The first section is loose but not detached. Advertisements for Hamley's (the famous London shop established in 1760) are on the front endpapers and there are other advertisements front and back. The xii + 155 pp of illustrated text + frontispiece with tissue guard + 14 pp of publishers' announcements are unmarked and undiscoloured. Six further pp of publishers' announcements and the back free endpaper are missing.
Copies of this curiosity are seldom found in very good condition. Such copies may be priced at more than $100.
