Ranney printer, 1848. 2 volumes in one, small octavo (5 3/8 x 3 3/4in; 136 x 95mm). Titles in western and burmese script, text in burmese script throughout. (Some waviness to paper, otherwise excellent). Contemporary half black/dark blue leather over cloth-covered boards, spine ruled in gilt (covers and endpapers affected by damp [see images]). Provenance: Nashua Historical Society, NH (inscription, noting the May 1873 gift of the book by Mrs. S. Noyes).
Rare posthumous work, one of 500 copies printed by Thomas Ranney, a printer from Dutchess Co., NY, who was with Adoniram Judson when he died in 1850.
"I am now engaged in writing questions on the Acts of the Apostles, in Burmese, for the use of the Bible Classes and Sabbath School. We have a Sabbath School, numbering nearly a hundred children, and a Bible Class of twenty adults" ("Fanny Forrester" Memoir of Sarah B. Judson London: 1860, p.162).
