Records of South-eastern Africa - 3 odd first edition volumes viz. volumes 3, 6 and 9. Volume 6, in particular, has the full transcript of Joao de Barros’s account of the Portuguese in eastern Africa as well as two interesting accounts of shipwrecks. The Sao Goncalo, where Plettenberg Bay is today and the Naarstigheid, a Dutch East Indiaman returning from Bengal and which became demasted in a hurricane. She made it to Delagoa Bay but was later burned.
The first editions of this set are not easy to come by as only 250 odd sets were printed and about 150 of these sets went to libraries all over the world. Clearly several libraries are discarding their sets, hence these odd volumes
