How it works

Register

Reminiscences of Kimberley. London: Bennett, 1911. First edition (pp. ix, 436). Octavo (19 cm) in publisher’s purple cloth, gilt titles. Quite a scarce title— Cohen’s recollections, whether true or not,  did not reflect favourably on the local establishment some members of which successfully sued him, at great cost to the author and detriment to the available supply of  the Reminiscences on the market. This surviving copy is but lightly abraded at the head and tail of the spine, spine is sun-faded, a few spots to front cover; otherwise clean, bright, and sound.  Scarce, for the reasons stated.

TOGETHER WITH

Reminiscences of Johannesburg & London. London: Robert Holden, 1924. First edition (pp. 316, index). In publisher’s reddish brown cloth, gilt titles (faded). Tips a bit frayed, a few spots, hinge starting; internally quite clean. Worth it even for the story of how tocount a hundred thousand pounds (hint- in two bags of coin). Not quite very good.
