The pamphlet that started it all. Emily Hobhouse's unofficial report was published in 1901 and generated such a furore that the government were forced to send Millicent Fawcett to the Cape to provide an official report. She merely confirmed Hobhouse's findings but not before tens of thousands of women and children had died in the squalor and disease of some 45 British concentration camps.

The pamphlet is surprisingly rare. This copy is somewhat edge worn and marked, the corners rubbed and there are two very small chips to the thin paper covers. The date is written on the front cover. Inside it is clean and complete with a few contemporary notes in the margins.
