Translated by Ellen E. Frewer. Two volume set. Orginal brown cloth boards with gilt and black titling and pictorial decorations on the spines and the upper boards. Black end papers. Volume 1 has xii prelims, 426 pages, followed by 32 pages of the publisher's catalogue. Coloured folding map, frontis, 96 illustrations. Volume 2 has xii prelims, 479 pages, frontis, 88 illustrations. CONDITION DETAILS: The pictorial decorations on the binding of volume 2 are rather worn. Although the bindings have corner bumps and a little wear, they are attractive. Pen name on both title pages.
